Computer problems fixed!!!

Finally my computer is up and running! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was a little different this year.... I give a Christmas Eve, Eve party for the family and usually am more organized and a few things planned but this year my Mother was in the hospital and is now in rehab and it seemed I just ran out of time ( and possibly steam? ) but as always my family pulled through and we all had a wonderful Relaxing evening which was most needed and I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Christmas evening we were able to take Mom for a few hours so she was able to spend time with the family at my nieces house which we do every year. She had a good time and was tired out when they took her back. So as you can see our Christmas was a little different this year but our family always seems to step up to the plate and we are all very blessed! May all of you have a Blessed Christmas Season!

Hypotonia

Not only was I still reeling from talk of Down Syndrome when a new word I had never heard of was put into the mix....Hypotonia... it's low muscle tone, muscles appear relaxed and floppy. For Claire it took her longer to crawl, walk, hold a cup, and right now being able to hold a pencil properly and print her name.. but she is able to do all these things it just happened in her time! I've learned to ignore the development pages in baby books I've made a scrapbook of her accomplishments, done in Her time, and really shouldn't that be how it is? I have a lot more patience now, when helping Claire do crafts, printing, anything with the hands. But once again she has taught me through her struggles to Slow Down, see the Whole Picture not just part of it, and mostly Enjoy Life! None of this affects her outlook, she is always happy!! Oh I long to be able to enjoy life as she does, but I'm learning! Slow Down and Enjoy Your Day!! Wendy

I'm still learning

When Claire was born I thought life would be so sad for her, there would be so much she wouldn't be able to do or participate in... that was my outlook......but Claire has a whole other out look ! She is happy to be!!! She doesn't judge people by looks, she excepts most things ( barking little dogs she does not! ) She is the most compassionate person I know ( She'll cry if someone is crying.) She gives the best hugs ever and often, when going to school she has more kids and adults from every grade saying hello to her!!! ( I thought she'd be lonely!) She laughs at her fathers jokes!!! Yes I was very short sighted but my vision is improving and I expect I'll learn a lot more in the years to come. Wendy

Dance

Claire loves to dance and spin, just the same as most little girls do, although it has been harder for her at times having to wear braces on her feet but she still dances , so maybe through her example I'm learning to dance through life's obstacles........ Like the song by Lee Ann Womack says......If you have the choice to sit out or dance I hope you dance. Keep dancing Claire!

Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Hands on Art show

What a busy weekend for both Dan and I!! We participated in the Hands on Art show at the community college. Dan painted rain barrels and I made paper and also had a display of tatting, crazy quilting, and a fiber art montage. We had such a good time and met a lot of people! In between my demonstrations I wandered around to see what some of the other activities were and was so impressed by all the different forms of art. I wish I could have made a few different things! My sister Marlene was there also she wrote and illustrated the book I know Where The Freighters Go, so she was showing kids how to draw freighters. I was pretty nervous to start as this was my first event of actually participating and demonstrating but after a couple times I really enjoyed it and had fun talking about what I love doing! How did you spend your weekend?

Eastern Market

Some days are just close to perfect and this was one of them! My sisters Kathy, Marti, and myself met up with Kathy's daughter Jamie at the Eastern Market. We talked, walked, ate, watched drummers, singers ( Marti even did a duet!) milled through shops, bought fruit, veggies, flowers, and cheese. It was a perfect day all the way around. We all agreed we'll have to do that more often......I can't wait! Hope everyone has a Perfect Day this week! Wendy

Winter Scene Blocks

I know it sounds a little early but by the time the round robin is done it'll be winter, so here are the 6 blocks I did, I'm thinking I'm going to make two separate bell pulls from them one with the top 3 and another with the bottom 3.

Missing Tooth!

Thursday while getting ready for tutoring I noticed Claire was missing a tooth! When I showed her in the mirror she started laughing! I was actually relieved as it was pretty loose. We finally found it on her bedroom floor. She has only lost one other tooth on the bottom, but I think the other top one isn't far behind! But tooth or no tooth she still has the cutest smile!!

Welcome to our garden

We have really been busy in our garden this year and I'm enjoying it immensely! My Husband put in all the paths and the ponds and we both decided where and what to grow. We added a lot of vegetables this year also .There's nothing like walking out into your garden and picking fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs. I even made Pesto the other day from the fresh Basil! Here are a few pictures to show. Enjoy your summer!! Wendy

Fairies, fairies, fairies

I am signed up to do a DYB round robin in Crazy quilting international and it's fairies!! I have never done a DYB before so this is going to be exciting but I feel up to the challenge. Here are the blocks I am sending on, I tried to do different colors so everyone might find something they'll like. I don't have the best camera but here they are. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Wendy

Reusing our Christmas tree

This year after we took the tree down we staked it up in the back yard and will use it to feed the birds during the winter. Claire really liked putting the seeds on the little bells we made and then we hung them on the tree outside! I noticed today it's time to make more as they are almost gone , but I have a hunch the squirrels are enjoying them more than the birds....

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!
I'm not one to make resolutions but this year there are some things I really do want to do....I need to take care of myself more, sometimes I feel like I'm so busy taking care of everything else I lose track of myself. I went and got my haircut the other day and bought some new makeup, now I just have to get rid of some of this weight... I also want to find a good book series, and take ice skating lessons, ( I know how to skate but would really like to learn more.) and I'd really like to learn more about computers, and texting and all that kind of stuff.... my son is home from the Marine Corp. so maybe he can help me out. Yes !!! My son is home, what a wonderful Christmas gift!!!! Claire started back to school today and practically ran the whole way there! She was soooo excited to go back, and the teacher said she had a good day!
What are some of your plans for the new year? Wendy
