SUNFLOWER GONE WILD!!!

This is the little sunflower that was given to me in a cup, started from seed at school, from Claire, for Mothers Day! The thing is HUGE! and it hasn't even blossomed yet! Will have to keep you posted on it's progress! It reminds me of my Dad and I, every planting season we would try to find some strange, different, interesting thing to plant, some were successes some complete failures but we had fun in the process! What are some of your garden oddities?

  1. We had a bunch of sunflowers grow in the stones beneath our deck, where the birdseed from our feeder fell down and sprouted. This was last year, and the sunflowers were absolutely gorgeous, until they got eaten by big black ants. :-( We had to take the bird feeder down, though, because the jungle of other weedy-type-things was out of control.

  2. That is a sunflower! I looked at it a couple days ago and thought it was, but so huge! My garden oddity this year is that I even have one with the lack of rain!

  3. Just like the two I had in my yard - one now deceased LOL. The ohter is up over the roof of our house and we had to tie it to the porch railing so it wouldn't fall over - the stalk is like a small tree! If you need any more seeds just email me - I must have 20 heads drying. Mexican sunflowers - lots of blooms on one stalk.

  4. I can't wait to see this flower at it's peek! Reminds me of Jack and the Bean Stock, my oddity for the past two years is a tree that won't grow I've tried everything and nothing works but I don't have the heart to dig it up. Hope I guess. Hugs, Pearl
