Swings
My brother made this swing and Claire and I had a wonderful time swinging on it. What is it about swings ? I've always loved them ( some more than others now that my hips are wider.) Makes me think of school days , the swing set at the beach ( ummm I can smell the water just thinking about it.) the rope swing in our backyard, wind blowing through my hair, motherhood and little ones laughing as we swing. One of my favorite poems is The Swing , by Robert Louis Stevenson, I always say it to Claire as we swing. For that few minutes life is simple and easy ( just swing). I hope I never grow too old to swing.

I concur, what is it about swings? I loved swinging when I was young, I loved swinging my kids when they were young (and swinging with them too) and I still love to hop on a swing when I get the chance and swing... perhaps it's the 'freedom' felt by oneself as you carelessly glide back and forth.
ReplyDeleteLucky Claire (and you) that your brother crafted a swing especially for her... now that's one cool uncle!
Thanks for sharing... I think I'll grab my nephew and find a swing this Labor Day Weekend...
The mountains the farm and holding your child in a swing, what could be better! Hugs, Pearl
ReplyDeleteGreat picture by the way.
Hi Wendy~
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in for a visit. I am going to frame my piece like it was a painting, no glass. I fold the cloth around a mat board and put in the frame. That way you don't have to use the glass. Hope that helps.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs, Pat
