Update on the Sunflower

I think I finally figured out how to get my pictures!!!  So I will start with a picture of our giant sunflower that Claire gave me for Mothers day!  Oh I think it actually worked!!!!   Claire doesn't really like getting her picture taken can you tell?  I'm so glad to be back!  Have a great weekend everyone!  Wendy

Pictures Coming!!!

I'm so excited!! I was able to get my pictures onto this computer, now I just have to figure out how to get them onto my blog!!! So I'm off to try and figure that part out!! I am soooo not up on all this computer stuff but just keep trying to learn. Have a wonderful evening! Wendy

Meet Alice

Over the weekend we went to the Humane Society and rescued a kitten. We had planned on getting one we saw online but when we got there Claire was not interested in it, at one point I thought we were going to leave without any until Claire spotted this one! When asked what it's name was Claire said Alice! "Alice ?" I said ,Yep Alice. So this is Alice and we absolutely adore her, she loves being around people,although Raja and her have had a few run ins ( or I should say run outs...Raja running out of the room because she moved!) but they are buddies now, but the most rewarding is Claire actually petting and playing with her, Claire doesn't like dogs ( other than Raja) and cries if a dog barks anywhere near her, but she has always been drawn to cats so here we are with a new member to our menagerie.. Welcome Alice!

A Girl and Her Doll!

This Tinkerbell doll has gone everywhere with us ( in the last year.) This is doll number three, and it looks like number 4 is probably just around the corner, notice the hair!!! and Dan had to fix her leg the other day. She's been stuck in register vents, rocking chair footrest levers, doors, drawers, and attached by the neck to a cat toy and flung around until her head came off, ( Dan tried to fix that one but wasn't successful thus doll number 3) you name it these dolls have been through it all. The conversations that take place between the two are priceless. So yes Tink went camping with us and thanks to my sister she got the perfect picture of Claire and her doll! Pure contentment don't you think?

SUNFLOWER GONE WILD!!!

This is the little sunflower that was given to me in a cup, started from seed at school, from Claire, for Mothers Day! The thing is HUGE! and it hasn't even blossomed yet! Will have to keep you posted on it's progress! It reminds me of my Dad and I, every planting season we would try to find some strange, different, interesting thing to plant, some were successes some complete failures but we had fun in the process! What are some of your garden oddities?

Rainy Days and Lessons

I home school Claire during the summer and this summer we've been working on weather and how to dress for it! Well today has been rainy and cool ( wonderful for a change!!) just a nice summer rain , so I went to the closet and got out snow pants, boots, rain coat, umbrella, hats,etc. and we decided on what to wear in the rain.....well you cant dress up and not go outside, well to say the least I wasn't really excited to go out but I'm thrilled I did! When was the last time you jumped in a puddle, or let the rain hit your face, looked at the plants all wet, and smelled the air, and plain just had fun playing in the rain?? Try it you'll be glad you did!

Family is a Special Event

I found this idea in a magazine a few years ago, I was always going to wait until I had a tea or party and then would forget about it . Well on the 4th of July I found the article and directions again and decided to make it to put fruit in. I think it turned out really pretty and will do this again, and although I didn't get to use it on the 4th as it had to freeze overnight I enjoyed using it the following night with our dinner. It also made me realize that I don't have to wait for "Events" to set a pretty table, Family is a special event!
